We (by "We" we mean local “green” music label/production company “Three Heads Company” and the environmental website “AGreenerIndiana.com”) created Little Turtle Music & Arts Festival for a number of reasons. Named after Chief Little Turtle, one of the midwest’s first environmental activists, Little Turtle Music & Arts Festival was designed to be a gathering of friends and lovers of music and the arts, rallying support to create a more environmentally conscious community, state and country. We plan to carry this out by featuring a wide range of professional musical entertainment and local artists. Along with the entertainment a platform will be provided for education, demonstrations, and presentations on an array of pressing environmental issues from alternative power and fuel sources, to watershed management, green legislation, the importance of reducing waste, and our ecological footprint. Our hopes are to see a weekend long effort to reduce landfill waste (through zero waste concepts like recycling and composting) while giving green organizations and local merchants a chance to reap the benefits of such a large gathering.
For $55 (kids under 12 are free) you will get to see a two day show headlined by Los Lobos, Mr. Blotto and The Willie Waldman Project featuring Willie Waldman on trumpet (Snoop Dogg ,Tupac, Banyan) Michael Kang on guitar and mandolin (String Cheese Incident) Ray White on guitar and vocals (Frank Zappa) John Molo on drums (Phil Lesh, Bruce Hornsby) Steve Molitz on keys ( Particle ,Phil Lesh) and Tony Franklin on bass (The Firm, David Gilmore,Whitesnake, Banyan). Along side of the headlining acts there will also be a slew of regional local bands like Chester Brown, Funkshoe, The Litmus Paper, Namaste, The Diggity, Midwest Hype, Shadyside Allstars,Kindle, Jassy Grazz, MC Sparkplug, Snuckafoo to name a few. To top that off we will also have an awesome kids area, incredible food vendors and microbreweries, extremely cool merchandise vendors, all sorts of “green” companies and artists to check out and keep you entertained. So grab your friends, family and camping gear (yes, you can camp!) and come on out to the Porter County Expo Center (also known as the Porter County Fairgrounds) over September 4th and 5th and help support the cause!
